Art is the ultimate time machine.
It can take you to the past, present and future. Instantly.
These two paintings of the sea, are of memories. The feeling of being at a certain place, with certain people and specific events. Both are the memories of the sea, but for different reasons.
If you ever had to leave your home, to a foreign place for good, you will know, the way home can be quick, and long at the same time. The place you thought it was your home, could become so familiar and foreign at the same time. The idea of Goethe’s Heimweg, it’s the feeling of the Beatles song, the “Hello and Goodbye”. You are so close, yet, you are so far. You are so near to something you love so much, yet, it has transformed. So have you.
The dogs are waiting. The piano remains the same. The fish tank is empty. Everything is familiar, yet different. You have grown as a traveler of life. The place has changed, as well.
Meanwhile, you are determined to make something of yourself while you struggle and thrive. You have got great ambitions, but for the time being, you will do humble work.
The place I want to be 《港都夜雨》, is a painting describing the longing to be home, but home is no longer the same.
I wish to go back to establish a new place at an old place. But where?
So, I painted a small yellow window on the upper right.
Wouldn’t it be nice to go home, to look out at the sea from just a small window?
This painting shows the process of struggle with all sorts of techniques. In abstraction, everything comes together until the end.
Like Pablo Picasso said, ” La peinture est plus forte que moi; elle me fait faire ce qu’elle veut.” in English, ” Painting is stronger than me; She makes me do what she wants.”
藝術是終極時光機。
它能帶你穿越時空，回到過去、現在和未來。瞬間即可到達。
這些畫，記錄著記憶。記錄著身處某個特定地點，與特定人物相伴，經歷事件的感受。
如果你曾離開家鄉，前往異國，你就會明白，回家的路，有時短暫，有時漫長。你曾以為的家，如今卻變得既熟悉又陌生。歌德的《歸鄉之路》正是如此，披頭四的歌曲《你好，再見》也讓你感同身受。你如此接近，卻又如此遙遠。你如此接近你深愛的事物，卻發現它已然改變。你自己也一樣。
狗狗依舊在等待。鋼琴依舊如故。魚缸空空如也。一切都似曾相識，卻又截然不同。你已成長為人生旅人。而這地方，也已變了。
同時，你決心在奮鬥中成就自我。你胸懷大志，但就目前而言，你將從事卑微的工作。
我渴望的地方，是對家的眷戀，但家已不再如昔。
我想回到過去，在舊地建立新的家。但究竟在哪裡呢？
於是，我在右上角畫了一扇小小的黃色窗戶。
回家該有多好，只需一扇小窗，就能眺望大海。
畫中右上角的大樓中，畫了一扇小小的黃色窗戶。雖然是很遙遠，如果可以在那裡看台灣的海，一定很棒。
這幅畫運用各種技法在創作的過程。到最後，所有元素最終融合在一起。
正如畢卡索所說：「La peinture est plus forte que moi ; elle me fait faire ce qu’elle veut.」 （法語：繪畫比我更強大；她讓我做她想讓我做的事。）
港都夜雨，引用了楊三郎先生的台灣歌曲詞的境界，台美人一定都可以了解如此心情。
今夜又是風雨微微 異鄉的都市
路燈青青 照著水滴 引阮心悲意
青春男兒不知自己 要行叨位去
啊～漂流萬里 港都夜雨寂寞暝
想起當時惦在船邊 講甲糖蜜甜
真正稀微你我情意 煞來拆分離
不知何時會再相見 前情斷半字
啊～海風野味 港都夜雨落抹離
海風冷冷吹痛胸前 漂浪的旅行
為著女性費了半生 海面做家庭
我的心情為你犧牲 你那抹分明
啊～茫茫前程 港都夜雨那抹停
