The painting uses the imagery of a flower, an umbrella, a swan to convey a deep message about perception versus reality. The swan, which appears graceful and serene on the surface, is actually working hard beneath the water. Similarly, the lush, green grass on the other side of the landscape might be the result of considerable effort and maintenance. The roots on the upper left corner, symbolized generations of hard work that is often overlooked.
The painting is about how we have the perception that the grass is always greener on the other side, while in reality, the beautiful swan is paddling hard underneath the water, and surely, the green grass is maintained with hard work on the other side. Our perception is often on the surface level.
We often admire what seems perfect without seeing the hard work behind it. It’s a reminder that we shouldn’t take things at face value and that every seemingly perfect situation involves unseen challenges and efforts. Through symbolic imagery, the painting also invites viewers to reflect on the importance of maintaining respectful boundaries while fostering genuine connection and peace.
